Having a routine makes it easier to plan your day and week and also it makes it easier for family and friends to remember when you are working so they do not keep interrupting you with non-work questions.
Originally the big concerns by managers was that people wo worked from home would not do any work and spend all their time playing games or watching TV. Well the opposite has happened and UK at home workers are doing an average of 25% extra hours as they forget to take breaks, have lunch etc. Set an alarm and every hour or so have a break from your screen or work even if it is just walking around the room or house.
At the end of the day when you have finished work turn off your laptop, tidy your work away and turn the light off and don’t go back to it till the next day. Some people even go for a walk round the block to have a ‘commute’ back to home life or spend some time going to the gym or the supermarket.
